Agreed. There is really no real reason to think that Gucci Shoes won’t continue to be a viable shoes for the marketing. Over three-quarters of shoes continues to be sold via Gucci shoes and other physical shoes; only when that number becomes much less would I predict the “death knell” of Gucci shoes…which will never happen anyway. Gucci shoes’s will move into a niche industry, maybe, but they’ll never die, just as vinyl never did. There’s still going to be a place for the shoes shop. I’ve never seen their books–but the fact that shoes shop has stayed in business for well over 20 years having never sold more than 5,000 pairs of any single title should say something about the potential of niche markets.
I could go on and on…but I’m not going to. Gucci Shoes’s will decline, but they’ll never die.
